Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy

An adaptation of an ancient form of barefoot massage using deep compression to glide over the body.  Gravitational force is combined with upward and downward movements to bring about a structural change in chronic soft tissue damage. Correct application will provide deep relaxation and stimulate the lymphatic system of the body. Bars are used over the head for balance and lubricant is applied.  This type of massage is especially good for chronic back pain.

Deep Tissue

By working through each layer of muscle, this massage method releases tension down to the core. This type of massage may not be for everyone because it can be intense, but devotees swear by the relief it brings.

Hot Stone

This type of massage will give the client a deeper level of relaxation with the combination of heat and pressure applied with stones.  People who could benefit from this would be those with chronic stress and tension, arthritis, carpal tunnel, menstrual cramps, headaches (non-chronic), lower back pain, strained muscles, need for deep tissue massage, and fibromyalgia.

Relaxation

This massage is based primarily on long, smooth, methodic strokes done in combination with gentle kneading to the muscles.  This brings about a very calming affect that naturally makes the client feel very relaxed.  Conversation is kept to a minimum so the state of relaxation is not interrupted.  This type of massage does wonders for those that are under a lot of stress, have difficulty sleeping at night, or who suffer from headaches.

Swedish

This is the most common type of massage therapy in the United States.  It is described as manipulation of the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissue in combination with specific joint movements.  This type of massage is for someone who wants each body part more thoroughly worked on with the various methods that are integrated with a Swedish massage.  These methods would include touch, stroking, friction, kneading, percussion, vibration, and joint movement.  Granted, not all of these methods can be used on everyone because some of these would be contradictory to certain health problems.  This type of massage is very general and therefore therapy is not usually done to any specific area.

Therapeutic

This type of massage varies from the relaxation and Swedish massage in that its purpose is to reduce pain to a group of muscles.  A therapeutic massage may be uncomfortable due to certain areas that may be tender.  These problem areas can be worked on to ultimately massage away any toxins that may be in the muscle tissue.  The degree in which pressure is applied to the area depends on the comfort level of the client.  This type of massage can be for the sole purpose of working on specific problem areas only, or can be combined with a Swedish massage.

**Any of these methods can be combined with another upon request.
